Skiing in Bad Gastein |
Gastein greets its
guests with a unique variety of pistes, cross country and
winter walking paths. If there is one thing you'll be
pondering over in Gastein, it will probably be deciding
which
ski area to head to next! There are actually four areas in the
Gastein Valley! On approximately 125 miles of slopes, some taking
you to elevations as high as 2,700 meters, there is something for
everyone: beginners, pros, skiers,
boarders or carvers. Ski slopes offer a broad range of
difficulty: 60 km easy, 117 km intermediate and 24 km
difficult, including family-style hills, carving hills,
deep-snow and mogul runs, all just waiting to be conquered
by you. You can look forward to descents down a great
variety and perfectly groomed slopes!

|
|
Bad Gastein |
The largest of the ski areas begins on the Stubnerkogel Mountain above
Bad Gastein and is more-or-less linked via the small Angertal Ski center
to the skiing on the Schlossalm above Bad Hofgastein.
|
|
Dorfgastein |
A second lower area, reached by train
or bus down the Dorfgastein at the bottom
of the Gastein Valley, over the Kreuzkogel Mountain.
|
|
Sportgastein |
The third and highest ski area is the small sector above Sportgastein
which has a base at 1,600 meters and a snow-sure top lift at 2,685
meters on the Kreuzkogel Mountain.
The off piste powder trails in this area are held in particular high
regard.

Bad Gastein Spa's |
|
|
In the center of Bad Gastein there are eighteen
thermal springs containing radon, which are particularly well-suited
to underwater therapies. The Gastein Steam Gallery has proven
its worth convincingly when it comes to healing qualities. The
high altitude along with water temperatures
|
|
|
from 37°C (98°F) to 41°C
(106°F) and relative humidity
between 70% to almost 100%, combined
with the high radon creates a climate which is unique.
Conditions that are claimed to be healed
here include: arthritis, asthma, rheumatism, damage to the vertebrae
and discs of the back and nerve inflammation. |
