Dan Hayes and Sue Macias, 15486 Park Lake Rd. Sue's number is 214-7398. • May 5, Book Club meeting to discuss Min Jin Lee's Pachinko at Katherine Lincoln’s home. • May 14, Joint council meeting with incoming and outgoing members. • May 18, Plant Exchange, kayaking and house party, Rich Rybicki’s home. • May 21, General Meeting, 2019-2020 membership signups begin. • June 18, General Meeting, 2019-2020 membership signups end. • June 23, A Sunday picnic being planned at Hawk Hollow Park. • June 28-30, Beaver Island Weekend. This trip is sold out, but you can ask to be put on a wait list should another room become available or someone cannot go. Sharon Roberts & Deb Maynard, chairs. • July 13, A picnic at Sharp Park at the shelter by the water. Cost is $5 advance, $7 day of. May 21 sign up and payment begins. Meat, buns, condiments, water, and paper products will be provided. Bring dish(s) to share and BYOB. Dave Panetta, Chair. This park has a great walking and biking path. • July 19, Lugnut Game. 20 ticket available for purchase at the May 21 meeting for $12. First come, first served with full payment. Orestes Mavromatis, chair. • August 23, A Friday Picnic being planned at Lake Lansing Park near Band Shell. • September 6-8, Weekend at Rainbow Resort in Mio. Kayaking weekend. Christine Wright, chair. • September 28-Oct 2, Discover Canyon Country Trip with Collette Travels. You can still make a reservation per availability. A $500 deposit is required and $275 optional travel insurance when you register. On March 25, all reserved seats were released; thus, you will need to call Collette (800-852-5655) for reservation with group #921820 for trip and/or air flight price. Trip dates are September 25 – October 2, 2019. Final payment is due July 27, 2019. • December 14, 2019, SAVE DATE: Christmas Party at The Crowne Plaza Hotel off of I-496 and Creyts Exit. Janice Pierce and Christine Wright, chairs. NEEDED: Event chairs and co-chairs for 1 day or overnight events. Chat with someone who has done events to help guide or partner with you. Or form a committee of 1-3 for 1-day events. Per new members coming to join, they tell us it is because of the activities they see on the website and Facebook is why they wish to join. Lack of activities, lack of memberships. You do not need to be on Council. First, ask yourself what you would like to do or where you wish to go. Then explore what options are available. Maybe it is kayaking, bike outing(s), theater and dinner or just theater, wine tasting as at Dusty Cellars, Tulip Festival in Holland, Meijer’s Gardens and/or concert, Greenfield Village and/or Ford Museum, Frankenmuth. There is so much to do and see in MI so put on your “thinking cap” and provide your friends and the membership some new, fun experiences this summer. Wanting several to host a picnic at Hawk Island Park June 23. Talk with Rich. (Beaver Island is June 28-30 and Father’s Day, June 16.) Diane West submitted the following singing schedules. BURCHAM HILLS SINGING DATES: April 14th May 19th June 9th (this is the 2nd Sunday due to Father's Day) July 21st August 18th September 15th October 20th November 17th December 8th (this is the 2nd Sunday since we may have a conflict with the 15th; we usually sing Christmas carols at other nursing homes) Also, we will sing Christmas songs for this Burcham date. WALKING THE TRAIL: Contact John Zipp (517) 604-1290 or jazipp2014@gmail.com, if you are interested in walking Monday and Wednesday at 10:15. Meet at McGuire Park to begin walking. Tennis will be moving outdoors soon at the Letts Center on Kalamazoo.
