expansive footprint. Shanty got its start in the early 1960s, and
what was once two independent resorts on two mountains was
brought under one flag in 1986. Further development created
the third village, known as Cedar River, in 1997.
While the grounds are expansive, thanks to the resort’s
shuttle system visitors can park the car upon arrival and
utilize free mini-bus transportation to hop around the resort
complex and into the nearby village of Bellaire, which offers
a charming downtown shopping and restaurant district.
