Destination Report: Midwest

          MICHIGAN’S

          BOYNE

          RESORTS Boyne Highlands offers

                                                                                                    a wide range of lodging
                                                                                                     options and 55 slopes
                                                                                                      for downhill thrills.
kiers at Boyne Highlands Resort and
Boyne Mountain Resort can look forward
to one of the Midwest’s longest ski sea-
sons—and to some new bells and whistles,
thanks to a number of fresh enhancements.

At the two Northern Michigan resorts last winter, guests
enjoyed a full five months of skiing and snowboarding (Nov. 27-
April 28) as Boyne Highlands was the first to open slopes in the
Lower Peninsula and Boyne Mountain the last in the entire state to
close out the season. Offering a combined 850 skiable acres and
115 trails, each resort boasts 30 percent more terrain than any other
ski area in Lower Michigan. And each offers a snow guarantee.

Boyne Highlands, celebrating its 50th anniversary season, will be
adding 31 Boyne Low-E fan guns, with Boyne Mountain installing 20
new guns. The proprietary Low-E fan gun’s efficiency and marginal
temperature snowmaking capability ensure quality snow conditions.
The two resorts’ snowmaking systems are now exclusively powered
           by Low-E snow guns.

In addition, Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain each purchased
a brand-new PistenBully 400 winch cat groomer. The winch cat
feature allows for snow that’s been pushed down the slopes to
be pulled back up so that it’s more evenly distributed. The winch
feature is particularly helpful on steep terrain and allows for
           longer-lasting coverage in the springtime.

Both resorts also have expanded their stock of rental equipment.
Boyne Highlands has an additional 90 sets of Head skis and boots,
plus 60 new Burton Learn to Ride (LTR) boards for adults and children.
Boyne Mountain has purchased 230 sets of Head skis and boots,
along with 95 Burton LTR boards.

Guests at Boyne Highlands this season will find that the Main Lodge
pool has been entirely rebuilt and now offers a larger pool deck and
hot tub. Also new for winter, food and beverage service will be offered
poolside. At The Spa at Boyne Highlands, construction is underway on

           ski playgrounds are investing nearly

$3 million for the coming winter season
